The Scott County Public Library now has hotspots that you can check out at all 3 locations: Austin, Lexington, and Scottsburg.
Do you need reliable internet access when you travel or do you live in a location with a weak signal? Checking out a hotspot just might be what you need to try.
How do I check out a device?
Check out your hotspot at any of our three locations — Austin, Lexington, or Scottsburg. Hotspots are available on a first-come, first serve basis.
Who can check out the device?
Anyone with a valid library card. The account must be in good standing – no fines or overdue items. Need to bring your card current? Stop by and check with one of our librarians – we will be happy to help.
How long can the device checked out?
You can check out a hotspot for 7 days. To allow equal access to other residents of the county, no renewals are permitted.
Where Can I Return the Device?
The device can be returned to any of our three locations – Austin, Lexington, or Scottsburg
The device MUST be returned inside – Please do not place the device in our drop boxes. You will charged a $10.00 fee.
What if I return the device late?
Please try to return the device on time. A $5.00 daily late charge will be assessed for each day the hotspot is past due.
What if I lose the device?
Please contact the library as soon as possible if you lose the device. The fee to replace the device is $100.00.

How do I renew it?
Hotspots are NOT renewable at this time.
Is There Any Data Limit?
In general there is no data limit. However, the service provider may lower speed or limit the amount of data that its network can handle for a short time.
Can the hotspot be used to text or send/receive phone calls?
No, the hotspot is only designed to provide the user with wi-fi access.
What if I have difficulty?
Bring the hotspot into the location where you checked out the device and we will be happy to help you troubleshoot the problem.

Information About the Hotspots
With this Verizon Jetpack hotspot, you can access 4G LTE networks to play, browse, download or stream.
Up to 15 Wi-Fi enabled devices can use this hotspot to connect to the Internet at once.
It is compatible with all major operating systems (Windows, Mac, etc.)
To use, you computer or device must have wi-fi capability.
To Connect to the Hotspot
- Turn on your Wi-Fi enabled device and the hotspot. The hotspot will broadcast its own wireless network and name.
2. The steps to connect to a Wi-Fi network vary depending on what kind of device you are using. See your device’s Users Guide for more information.
3. When prompted, enter your Wi-Fi network password found on the hotspots’ case. The Home screen should show an additional connected device. You are now connected to the Internet.
